Living Stones of Alexander Garden and the Tomb of Unknown Soldier
May 19, early morning. Representatives from various cultures gathered in Alexander Garden, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to honour the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

The forum began with silence. This memorial is one of the most poignant in the world: under the granite slab lie the ashes of a soldier who died in 1941 near the city of Zelenograd. His name remains unknown, but he has become a symbol of all those who did not return from the war.
When we laid flowers, I caught myself thinking that there is no place in my country where memory is so honoured. This is not just a monument — it is living history.

It was an important moment that set the tone for the entire event, bringing together young journalists, filmmakers, and bloggers from different countries. Laying flowers is not just a ritual. It is a reminder that the heroism of the past lives on in the hearts of each of us, and that the task of today's creators is to carefully preserve this memory and pass it on to new generations.

The oldest cinema in Russia, which opened in 1909, continued to operate even during the war. Frontline newsreels were shown here, and documentary filmmakers gathered in the foyer, ready to go to the front.

In 2025, the Dialogue of Cultures forum opened the exhibition ‘Collective Victory’ in these same halls. It featured more than 100 portraits of veterans and children of war, as well as posters and graphics dedicated to the Great Victory. The exhibition became not only a tribute to memory, but also an inspiration for young authors who created content specifically for the forum. It is a bridge between generations, a reminder that Victory was and remains our common heritage.

Metro or Museum?

The Moscow Metro is the only one in the world where stations are officially considered cultural heritage sites. It is not just a transport system, but an underground museum where every corner is a work of art and an architectural masterpiece.

Forum participants went on an exciting journey through the Moscow Metro, where they were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the capital. The tour began at Oktyabrskaya station, famous for its mosaics. The group then headed to Ploshchad Revolyutsii, where everyone could feel the spirit of the times and take memorable photos with the bronze sculptures. The next stop was Mayakovskaya, one of the pearls of the Moscow Metro and a symbol of the avant-garde era. Its architecture amazes with its harmony of forms and light: high arches and mosaic panels dedicated to aviation and conquering the sky create the feeling of flying underground. This was the goal set and achieved by the station's architect, Alexey Dushkin, so that people deep underground would not feel the pressure of the 33-meter thickness above them. Looking from one end of the central hall to the other, you can see 36 arches resting on pillars. Between the arches are snow-white ceiling spans with glowing rings in the centre.

The participants then visited the Komsomolskaya station, which was designed as a majestic palace welcoming guests to the capital. The station is known for its luxurious design in honour of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, eight mosaic panels with images of Russian commanders and battle scenes, designed by architect A. V. Shchusev, who received the Stalin Prize for the project.
The tour ended at Maryina Roscha, one of the newest and most striking stations in the Moscow Metro, combining modern design with the historical heritage of the area. Light colours, glass surfaces, and innovative lighting create a feeling of space and lightness. It is notable for being the deepest station on the Big Circle Line (No. 11) (at a depth of 64.5 meters) and having the longest escalator in the Moscow Metro (130 meters). The station uses digital technologies such as personalised service, digital navigation, and a «Live Communication» desk with the chatbot Alexandra. Forum participants noted that Maryina Roscha is an example of how modern technologies and design solutions help to preserve and rethink the cultural context, transforming the familiar perception of the metro as everyday transport into a sense of involvement in historical heritage and contemporary art.

The Maxim Gorky Film Studio is one of the oldest and largest film studios in Russia, where films that have become classics of Soviet and Russian cinema were made. Films reflecting different eras and destinies, from heroic epics to subtle psychological dramas, were shot here.
I was surprised when found out that Moscow has such large-scale film studios and shooting locations capable of competing with major international studios. The studio management presented the capabilities of their facilities to us; they are perfectly suited for shooting a wide range of content — from simple reportage to complex productions using augmented reality technology. As expected from professional studios, it's possible to create almost any kind of visual content there.
